Our Remarkable Time in Uruguay and Argentina

When you travel to a country, you tend to fall in love with that nation, and the people from that country. Such was the case as we were recently in Uruguay and Argentina.
International travel is full of surprises. We did not expect to have a five hour layover in beautiful Panama City. As my father used to say to me when I was a child, “Life is made up of adjustments."

PART ONE: URUGUAY
Speaking via a translator in Montevideo, Uruguay at the Congreso Iberoamericano, with 21 nations represented amount the 35 nations in Iberamericano (12 in South America, 7 in Central America, 14 in the Caribbean, Mexico and Spain).

Congreso Iberoamericano in Montevideo, Uruguay
Presenting copies of WELL VERSED (Bien Versado) and REVERSED (Sal del Engaño) in Spanish - (covering the biblical foundations to nearly 90 political topics) to Member of the Uruguay Parliament Alvaro Dastugue - who is both a Congressman and a pastor.
Presenting a copy of REVERSED in Spanish to Arnoldo Weins,
who has held high office in Paraguay, and is now
running for president of Paraguay.
Member of the Guatemalan Parliament Cèsar Amezquito
receiving the Spanish version of my book REVERSED,
while presenting to me the emblem of Guatemala.
Christian Rosas from Lima, Peru seeing REVERSED for the first time - in which his name is mentioned in the opening of Chapter 3. A fabulous story.
Peru might be the only nation that drove George Soros & his ilk out of the country!
Signing books, and then hanging out with fabulous people
from 21 nations gathered in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Uruguay’s National Assembly
It is bicameral with 30 Senators and 99 Deputies. The nation is small, with a population of around 3 million, the third smallest in South America. I was told that the impact of George Soros has been profound, with it being one of very few nations of the 12 South American nations to legislatively support so called same sex “marriage” (which isn’t really authentic marriage, according to the One who established marriage). Apparently some other South American nations have it due to judicial fiat.

Abortion is legal. So is marijuana. The nation is heavily European impacted. I was also told there was only one evangelical in the Congress.

However, as in any nation, there are faithful believers attempting to uphold the standard of righteousness.

We fell in love with Uruguay.
Maria Irene Squillaci
Maria Irene Squillaci is our Well Versed representative in Latin America, who traveled with us and helped organize so many details. She is an author, thinker, strategist, and speaker in her own right, covering the same type of topics as Well Versed.
We took a two hour ferry from Montevideo, the capitol city of Uruguay, to Buenos Aires, the capitol city of Argentina.
PART TWO: ARGENTINA
Argentina is a large nation, four times the size of Texas, or about 30% of the size of the United States. It has a population of approximately 47 million.
Ana Valoy
Ana Valoy was the wonderful coordinator for our time in Argentina. She and her husband Francisco have a ministry called “Born to Govern.”

Some of the wonderful pastors and faith leaders we met with in Argentina.
Pastor of one of the largest churches in Argentina, Omar Cabrerra
His father, also named Omar Cabrerra, is the one who became well known all across the United States due to the stories told in the books written about him by the late Dr. C. Peter Wagner.
I preached at a packed church - all young people - almost all of them in their 20s - in a suburb of Buenos Aires, Argentina (massive city of 15 million). That part of the city is unfortunately known for its challenges and corruption. That portion is known as La Matanza, which means “the place of killing” because there was originally a slaughter house for cattle, but now people say it is because of the crime.
Preaching via an interpreter in Buenos Aires, Argentina because the only Spanish I can recall is “pass the butter please.” Click the picture above or watch the video here.
Pastors Ale and Lali Gomez, where I preached, who have an enormous youth ministry across Latin America, filling stadiums with 100,000 at a time.
Worship at Los Cruces Church - Buenos Aires Argentina
The church is remarkably high tech. Incredible band and musicians. They normally get out of service at 11:55am. I (true to form) did not get done preaching till 12:40pm, 45 minutes past the cut-off time. Not one person got up. No one left. I preached on “The Blood Covenant.” They were so spiritually absorbent! So responsive.
In Argentina where they love mate (pronounced MAH-tae), a very strong tea, made with Yerba Mate. We were laughing hard because they pass it around and all drink from the same “metal straw,” which is called a “bombilla” or “bomba.”

I was kidding them about this “straw sharing” practice (sort of like “passing around a peace pipe"), thus all the loud laughter. Click on the pictures or watch them here:
Video 1 & Video 2.
One of the highlights of the trip was meeting with so many from Congress, from many countries. Here is a group from the Argentinian Congress. There are 257 Members of the House of Deputies, and 72 in the Senate. I was told that there are only about five or six or so believers in the House of Deputies, and only two believers in the Senate. I really enjoyed sharing with this group.

The fellowship with the Argentinian Deputies was so refreshing.

As we left this wonderful country, we praised God for Argentina.
